How to Pay for Disability Care
Direct Payments
Most disability care is funded through Direct Payments—your council gives you a budget to arrange your own care and choose your provider.
Personal Health Budgets (PHB)
If you have complex health needs, you may receive NHS-funded Personal Health Budgets to pay for care supporting health needs.
Continuing Healthcare (CHC)
Those with complex ongoing health needs may qualify for fully NHS-funded care. We support applications and work with CHC teams.
Local Authority Care Packages
Your council arranges and funds care if you meet eligibility criteria following needs assessment.
Self-Funded / Private Pay
Private funding for additional hours, services or if you don't qualify for council/NHS funding.
Individual Service Funds (ISF)
Alternative to Direct Payments—provider holds your budget and delivers agreed care.
Accessing Funding
Care Act Assessment
Request assessment from your local council's adult social care team to determine eligibility.
We Can Help
We support you through funding applications, assessments and setting up Direct Payments or Personal Health Budgets.
